Up to this point we've spent very little time talking about "downtowns".  This hasn't been by accident.  The downtown commercial district is that part of the city about which most think when they hear the word "urban."  Today, we'll remedy that by watching "Proud Towers" from the series "Pride of Place"  The Flatiron Building, featured above, will be one of the skyscrapers featured.  This link should bring you to a short film demonstrating just how windy windy is.
For Thursday, April 25
I'll spend a very few minutes introducing the take-hhome final which I'm publishing today.  Then there will be a breakout session during which you'll meet as groups.  Please make sure that at least one of you has a laptop computer at hand.   After the breakout, we'll meet again, and I'll ask a member of each group to briefly and informally report on what's going on with regard to your investigation of your particular city.  You might scout a good place to meet on your way in to class.
Boston Custom House
Attendance will be taken after you return from the breakout.
