For Monday, April 11   Terkel Wrapup
We'll continue our analysis of the persons Studs Terkel interviewed for Dividion Street America.  Students who missed a session should should post their reflections on theit characters to their personal journals.  Thanks to all who have worked diligently on this act of the imagination.   I know it is not what the kind of assignment you're used to, but I do believe we have picked up something of value from the effort.

As I say over and over again, the delight of urban living is in the complexity of the urban environment.  No two residents experience the city exactly alike:  in fact, their experiences may be more diverse than the experiences of the tourst-visitors.  So as wwe conclude this, think of how the characters you've met have contributed to the richness of the urban experience, and what the urban experience contributes or perhaps inflicts on them.   For Your Convenience, the lists I posted before are posted again below.
For Thursday, April 11   Serious Thinking about the City Projects
I haven't been mentioning this much the past two weeks, but I hopw that hasn't meant you haven't been thinking from time to time about what you'd like to be doing for your particular part of your city project.  Quoting Myself:

I expect no two groups to investigate their cities the same way.  In fact, I would be rather disappointed if the presentations look like clones of each other.  If we’ve learned nothing else, we should have learned that each bit of Urban America has unique characteristics of its own.  That, coupled with the fact that are groups vary considerably in size, should lead to considerable differences in presentations.  Below are some ideas some of you might wish to pursue.  The list is not inclusive.  There are other things which some of you might choose to pursue.  I’d like to have a mix of things for each city, variety is the spice of life.  So here are a few ideas

The thing I'm quoting myself from is the document beh8ind the button/bar immediately below.
This page remains a bit of a work in progress.  Between The Church and State Confrerence the weekend and Faculty Senate and the Global Fest Yesterday, I've been running pretty hard to say in the same place.  I'll pretty it up before Monday.  Barring disaster, I will also have your papers evaluated by then.  Sorry it's taking me so long...sometimes I get busy
