WARNING:
  • This course should be considered experimental.  It may head in quite unpredictable directions, as it has in every previous offering.
  • Students in it will have to be both flexible and self-motivating.  The best of them will also seize the initiative and explore the possibilities of what we’re going to do with me.  Some students are not comfortable in this kind of an environment.
  • If you are a student who needs lots of structure and specific and predictable outcomes, you may want to consider taking another course instead of this one.
  • On the other hand, if this sounds like a chance for you to break new intellectual ground, and you can trust me to be fair and flexible in my assessments, then this course could be just the thing for you.
Feedback Session.

On the Home Page I put the cautionary note I've reprinted above.  (It kind of reminds me of  the warning on packs of ciggies.

I'd like to use at least part of this period soliciting feedback  from you.

If some of you would feel more comfortable appointing a moderator and discussing this among yourselves, I'm happy to go out and hang around the water cooler until you've uncovered what you'd like to bring to my attention.

I'll also entertain discussion and questions on the take-home, and, should anyone have found anything to share as far as City Discoveries go, I'll be happy spend some time in a final prowl around with you all..

I hope that the fact I've had a good time with you has shown from time to time during the semester.  Thanks for providing me with an intellectual stimulus.
